How To STOP Getting In Your Own Way

Tell me if this sounds familiar...

"If I only had [fill in the blank], then I would be doing [fill in the blank]..."

Show of hands, who, besides myself, is GUILTY of doing this? Come on, be honest with me.

Why do we have to add caveats to our goals and dreams?

As a Content Creator and Entertainer, one of the things I have struggled with (and still do honestly) is what I call the "if...then" mind-trap. This is where I place "obstacles" in front of the things that I want to accomplish JUST so I have an EXCUSE to NOT do them.

Take this blog for example, I have been sitting on this for quite sometime. Why? Because I have been stuck in "if...then".

If I had more time, I'd start a blog.

If I was great at writing, I'd be able to captivate readers

If my blog page was done by a professional, I'd be able focus more on the blog content.

And so on, and so on...

Its so very easy to come up with the reasons "why" we shouldn't do or couldn't do something. When all we are REALLY facing the the FEAR of doing the thing. We convince ourselves that things have to a certain way before we can even get started.

A quote I recently heard, "Don't give yourself another excuse to give up on YOU..."

These words really resonated with me. They remind us of just how POWERFUL our minds can be and the way we SELF-SABOTAGE. Listen, our brains are designed to keep us out our danger. However, what our brains cannot do is distinguish between an actual life-threatening event and us having to give a presentation at work. See, to our brain, there is NO DIFFERENCE because the same "danger" feelings arise whenever we are about to do something is uncomfortable.

We need to STOP using our energy to create more excuses and instead, START using that energy to simply putting one foot in front of the other foot, and repeating that over and over until we get where we are trying to go. Success without DISCOMFORT does not exist, so EMBRACE it, you'll thank me later.

Now, are we going to make mistakes along the way? Sure. Are we going to continue to have to deal with the "if...then" trap on occasion? Absolutely. But we are also going to learn so much about ourselves during that process and discover the strength we have within as a result of having pushed through the FEARS we all face on this journey.

It’s time to take FEAR out of the driver’s seat and put it in the BACK seat. We recognize this feeling of fear but also recognize that we WILL NOT die from this. That growth is GOOD and will help us become the BEST version of ourselves.

Aren’t you READY for a change? Take your foot off the brake and let’s GO!!

I look forward to hearing your thoughts/comments below.
